Orthodontic Treatment Flow: Efficient and Effective Procedures

We’ll walk you through the steps of your orthodontic treatment, from your first consultation to appliance removal and maintaining your beautiful smile.

① First Consultation (Approx. 30 minutes)

You’ll have the chance to share your concerns about dental alignment, ask any questions you may have, and discuss your treatment needs. Our orthodontist will explain the treatment process in detail. If you have questions or doubts, this is the perfect time to ask—we’re here to help.

② Examination (Approx. 30 minutes)

During this consultation, we will perform a detailed examination of the patient's mouth. This procedure includes taking photographs of the inside of the mouth to document its condition. In addition, we will request a study involving X-rays, as well as the creation of a model of the upper and lower teeth, which will allow us to verify the occlusion accurately.

③ Treatment Plan Discussion (Approx. 30 minutes)

Based on your diagnostic results, we’ll design the ideal treatment plan for you. Using your X-rays, dental models, and intraoral and facial photos, we’ll provide a clear diagnosis and explain our recommendations. In this session, we’ll also review costs and available payment options. Please feel free to ask anything—we want you to feel completely confident and comfortable with your treatment plan.

④ Appliance Placement (Approx. 60 minutes)

Next, we’ll place your orthodontic appliances. These are carefully designed to gently guide your teeth into their correct positions. Brackets are bonded to each tooth, ensuring the process is safe and does not cause harm to your teeth or gums.

⑤ Adjustment Visits (15–30 minutes, over approx. 2–3 years)

Once your appliances are in place, you’ll return every 3–5 weeks for adjustments. Each visit takes about 15–30 minutes, depending on your treatment type. The total treatment time depends on your facial structure and the complexity of your dental alignment. For patients with significant crowding, treatment typically lasts 2–3 years.

⑥ Appliance Removal (Approx. 60 minutes)

When your teeth have been properly repositioned, we’ll remove all appliances—marking the end of active treatment. To prevent relapse (teeth shifting back), it’s essential to wear a retainer that keeps your teeth aligned. We’ll take an impression for clear retainers, which will be ready about two hours later for you to wear. Retainers generally last up to six months and should be replaced when worn out. If a retainer is lost or broken, we recommend replacing it as soon as possible to avoid any shifting.

⑦ Maintenance & Periodic Checkups (Every 6 months, for 2–3 years)

It takes about two years for dental alignment to fully stabilize. That’s why we’ll ask you to return every 3–6 months after appliance removal for checkups. During these visits, we’ll monitor your alignment and bite, and also provide professional dental cleanings to keep your smile healthy.
